Marriage or magic

Magic is a limited source that doesn’t last a lifetime, the power, doesn’t last forever. Time is the essence. In the Disney fairytale Cinderella the Fairy Godmother used her magic to create the carriage, her dress, and her shoes but gave her until 12 o’clock. At that time everything fades away and she is left back into her scrubs. Realistically speaking people often reach success through marriage more so than magic. Magic is enchantment.


Something you have to believe in, to imagine. Success or riches could possibly be achieved by magic if you practice those beliefs uphold the supernatural beings. Marriage is a union between two people who love and cherish one another for the rest of their lives. There are certain instances where people fall in love, get married and become successful together leading to riches or sometimes there’s people who marry someone just for money. 
So they make appearances, and try to become the limelight. Realistically it’s easier to become successful or inherit riches through marriage than magic, because it’s an everyday occurrence. For example in Princess and the Frog, princess Tiana has her wishes to own her restaurant but riches was what prevented her from achieving that wish because she didn’t come from money. When she met the prince, everything she ever dreamed of came true because she married into the riches. Her success was because of herself but the prince provided her with the money to start her own business that thrived. Realistically marriage is a component to obtaining success or riches.

Rapunzel" is a classic German fairy tale in the collection assembled by the Brothers Grimm, and was first published in 1812 as a children’s fairytale. As discussed in class hair in fairytales can be seen as a symbol of femininity, strength, beauty, and sexuality. In the cartoon, Rapunzel's hair is the center of attraction. She is using her hair to attract men and trap them in the tower with her. In the cartoon, we see that Rapunzel is calling out to a Knight asking him to rescue her from the tower, as he’s climbing he realizes that it would be common sense to use her own hair to rescue herself. She then whispers “dammit” as she has failed to capture another man. In both the Grimm fairy tale and Disney's contaminated version Rapunzel's hair is used to ensure that there’s no way out and only one way up.  In Disney’s “Tangled” the prince/ thief falls in love with Rapunzels almost immediately while in the cartoon version the knight is unimpressed and uninterested. The story of Snow White

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a classic fairytale, but most people tend to only know Disney’s version of the tale. Snow White comes in a variety of versions. One of the first versions of the tale is the Brothers Grimm. Between Disney and Grimm there are many differences and similarities within the fairytales. One major difference between the two versions is how many times the queen tries to kill Snow White. In the Grimm Brothers version the queen tries to kill Snow White three times. The first time with lace, the second time was with a poisoned comb, and the third is the fatal red shiny apple that ends everything. Or so she thought. While in the Disney version the queen only visits Snow White once and when she approaches she has a red shiny apple with her. Another difference I spotted is what Snow White does when she first enters into the cottage.
