The story of Snow White

Image
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a classic fairytale, but most people tend to only know Disney’s version of the tale. Snow White comes in a variety of versions. One of the first versions of the tale is the Brothers Grimm. Between Disney and Grimm there are many differences and similarities within the fairytales. One major difference between the two versions is how many times the queen tries to kill Snow White. In the Grimm Brothers version the queen tries to kill Snow White three times. The first time with lace, the second time was with a poisoned comb, and the third is the fatal red shiny apple that ends everything. Or so she thought. While in the Disney version the queen only visits Snow White once and when she approaches she has a red shiny apple with her. Another difference I spotted is what Snow White does when she first enters into the cottage. In the Grimm Brothers version Snow White is demanded to make a promise to the seven dwarfs that she will cook, clean,

Marriage or magic

Magic is a limited source that doesn’t last a lifetime, the power, doesn’t last forever. Time is the essence. In the Disney fairytale Cinderella the Fairy Godmother used her magic to create the carriage, her dress, and her shoes but gave her until 12 o’clock. At that time everything fades away and she is left back into her scrubs. Realistically speaking people often reach success through marriage more so than magic. Magic is enchantment. Something you have to believe in, to imagine. Success or riches could possibly be achieved by magic if you practice those beliefs uphold the supernatural beings. Marriage is a union between two people who love and cherish one another for the rest of their lives. There are certain instances where people fall in love, get married and become successful together leading to riches or sometimes there’s people who marry someone just for money.  So they make appearances, and try to become the limelight. Realistically it’s easier to become successf

The class term for fairy tales is considered to be a narrative of magic and fantasy. An imaginary qc3 told through storybooks and often movies. Don't you just live them? As a child, my favorite fairy tale growing up was Beauty and the Beast.  As my first fairy tale that I watched, it taught me a lot. As a princess, it showed me poise and grace and as a beast, it taught me determination and strength. Within these stories, they s you narratives that paint pictures that guide you and show you life lessons. Each fairy tale has a specific moral.  These lessons played an important role in developing our unshaped minds as a child, but as society evolved so did fairytales. For example in the Cinderella fairytale, the moral of the story is to have kindness towards all, forgive others for their wrong doings and to never let anyone bring you down. These fairy tales take us to a land of fantasy, happiness, sorrow, and dilemmas. As a child, we often alternate endings or add our twi

From Fiction to Fantasy

In the film ”The Brothers Grimm” directed by Terry Gilliam, brothers Jake and Will voyage from village to village, posing as the infamous ghostbusters, but instead of ghosts, it's magical creatures that only exist through storytelling. In a particular scene that caught my eye was ” the bar scene” where Will and Jake were seen to be partying. Jake drinking and conversing with people Will had his eyes focused on more interesting things such as his own personal needs. Things start to go haywire when an intoxicated Jake begins to talk their schemed adventures. What's next is chaotic? And boom the French make an appearance. All hell breaks loose. In discrepancy to the film, the book” The Brothers Grimm” by Jack Zipes, Wilhelm and Jacob are portrayed as studious scholars, who focused more on their work more than themselves. Since the deaf of their father and grandfather, they had to work harder to prove everyone wrong, to prove that they weren't just lower class nobodies t

From Grimm to Disney, when I think about this phase, I think about the dark times, the true original story that has become fabricated. When I first read about this course I became intrigued. I never questioned the original stories of Disney fairy tales, because I never knew that there was a whole different side to each story.    This course became an eye-opener, I wanted to learn more about the symbolism of each tale, to learn and understand where they originated from. Disney has always been number one ever since I was a little girl, and to just be able to decipher different methods and models of storytelling is fascinating to me.             Out of all the magical fairytales of Disney, my favorite story is Enchanted. It's not a common story everyone knows, but it highlights true love between the real world and animated storybook endings. Enchanted is a story about a fairytale princess who becomes part of the real world. Everything that she o
