Rapunzel" is a classic German fairy tale in the collection assembled by the Brothers Grimm, and was first published in 1812 as a children’s fairytale. As discussed in class hair in fairytales can be seen as a symbol of femininity, strength, beauty, and sexuality. In the cartoon, Rapunzel's hair is the center of attraction. She is using her hair to attract men and trap them in the tower with her. In the cartoon, we see that Rapunzel is calling out to a Knight asking him to rescue her from the tower, as he’s climbing he realizes that it would be common sense to use her own hair to rescue herself. She then whispers “dammit” as she has failed to capture another man. In both the Grimm fairy tale and Disney's contaminated version Rapunzel's hair is used to ensure that there’s no way out and only one way up. In Disney’s “Tangled” the prince/ thief falls in love with Rapunzels almost immediately while in the cartoon version the knight is unimpressed and uninterested. W

The original tale of “Hansel and Gretel” but the brothers Grimm is a rare and classic story, that is centered around siblings who will do anything to protect one another. In the fairytale, Hansel and Gretel are children of a poor woodcutter and his wife. As the days go by the woodcutter's wife begins to grow worried about starving to death. So the wife forces the husband to take his children into the forest and leave them there. However, Hansel being the conniving little boy he is overhears the conversation, collects stones/ pebbles that can be seen in the moonlight and places them inside his pockets for safe keeping. The next day the father takes them deep into the woods, as they walk deeper and deeper Hansel leaves a trail of the pebbles so that they are able to find their way back home. Nightfall comes and the father is nowhere in sight, Hansel and Gretel follow the stones out of forest and home. The wife is shocked and conjures another plan for the husband to take the

We all know the classic story of “Little Red Cap” or as most people know it, “Little Red Riding Hood” a commonly known tale. Told to us all as a childhood story. A story used to warn us about the cautionary dangers of venturing off into a path that your parents didn’t pave for you. Going toward the darkness instead of light. Little Red Riding Hood has many different versions, but the original version by the Brothers Grimm has been turned into many other versions. The image above represents the concept of how naïve Little Red Cap is as she ventures off into the forsaken path. The image above shows a humorous meaning behind Red Riding Hood’s decision to choose the wrong path and falling into desire. The males portrayed in the picture is the wolf and the hunter. The males in the tale are separated in two forms: the dangerous reducer who if given into, turns into the destroyer of the good grandmother and the girl; while the hunter is the strong responsible, strong, an

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a classic fairytale, but most people tend to only know Disney’s version of the tale. Snow White comes in a variety of versions. One of the first versions of the tale is the Brothers Grimm. Between Disney and Grimm there are many differences and similarities within the fairytales. One major difference between the two versions is how many times the queen tries to kill Snow White. In the Grimm Brothers version the queen tries to kill Snow White three times. The first time with lace, the second time was with a poisoned comb, and the third is the fatal red shiny apple that ends everything. Or so she thought. While in the Disney version the queen only visits Snow White once and when she approaches she has a red shiny apple with her. Another difference I spotted is what Snow White does when she first enters into the cottage. In the Grimm Brothers version Snow White is demanded to make a promise to the seven dwarfs that she will cook, clean,

Magic is a limited source that doesn’t last a lifetime, the power, doesn’t last forever. Time is the essence. In the Disney fairytale Cinderella the Fairy Godmother used her magic to create the carriage, her dress, and her shoes but gave her until 12 o’clock. At that time everything fades away and she is left back into her scrubs. Realistically speaking people often reach success through marriage more so than magic. Magic is enchantment. Something you have to believe in, to imagine. Success or riches could possibly be achieved by magic if you practice those beliefs uphold the supernatural beings. Marriage is a union between two people who love and cherish one another for the rest of their lives. There are certain instances where people fall in love, get married and become successful together leading to riches or sometimes there’s people who marry someone just for money. So they make appearances, and try to become the limelight. Realistically it’s easier to become successf

The class term for fairy tales is considered to be a narrative of magic and fantasy. An imaginary qc3 told through storybooks and often movies. Don't you just live them? As a child, my favorite fairy tale growing up was Beauty and the Beast. As my first fairy tale that I watched, it taught me a lot. As a princess, it showed me poise and grace and as a beast, it taught me determination and strength. Within these stories, they s you narratives that paint pictures that guide you and show you life lessons. Each fairy tale has a specific moral. These lessons played an important role in developing our unshaped minds as a child, but as society evolved so did fairytales. For example in the Cinderella fairytale, the moral of the story is to have kindness towards all, forgive others for their wrong doings and to never let anyone bring you down. These fairy tales take us to a land of fantasy, happiness, sorrow, and dilemmas. As a child, we often alternate endings or add our twi

In the film ”The Brothers Grimm” directed by Terry Gilliam, brothers Jake and Will voyage from village to village, posing as the infamous ghostbusters, but instead of ghosts, it's magical creatures that only exist through storytelling. In a particular scene that caught my eye was ” the bar scene” where Will and Jake were seen to be partying. Jake drinking and conversing with people Will had his eyes focused on more interesting things such as his own personal needs. Things start to go haywire when an intoxicated Jake begins to talk their schemed adventures. What's next is chaotic? And boom the French make an appearance. All hell breaks loose. In discrepancy to the film, the book” The Brothers Grimm” by Jack Zipes, Wilhelm and Jacob are portrayed as studious scholars, who focused more on their work more than themselves. Since the deaf of their father and grandfather, they had to work harder to prove everyone wrong, to prove that they weren't just lower class nobodies t
